South Coast Winery Taste Tour
Two sessions, 1pm-3pm | 3pm-5pm
This tour meanders through luscious green valleys and overlooks some of the country’s most pristine beaches and the Shoalhaven River.
It is one of the few regions in Australia where visitors have the unique experience of meeting vignerons and wine makers at the cellar door. This tour will visit Coolangatta Estate, situated on the foothills of Mt. Coolangatta, it is the largest and most awarded winery in the region.
Alive with history, the original convict-built village is now surrounded by sprawling vineyards and landscaped grounds. You will have knowledgeable staff explain the providence, tastes, vintage and grape varieties used in their wines. The South Coast region produces a wide range of varieties including Chardonnay, Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chambourcin, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and some exciting new varieties.
You will get a chance to try them, paired with a cheese platter, made from locally produced Shoalhaven cheeses. You will then have time to purchase wine to take home as a souvenir. The Coolangatta Semillon is a local favourite, especially when paired with fresh local seafood!
Loves Bay to Gerringong 6kms | 1pm – 4pm
Join Paul from Nature Engagement Tours to explore the best coastal walk in NSW. Ocean views, spectacular rock formations, unspoilt beaches.
The Kiama Coast Walk has three sections, made up of a series of shorter walks/cycling paths from the mouth of the Minnamurra River south through Kiama to Gerringong’s Werri Beach. Offering a mix of sealed paths, grassed tracks and beach walking, the hills are gentle enough for most fitness levels. Loves Bay to Gerringong (6kms) – the 3rd and final section of the Kiama Coastal Walk is the most untouched, as you follow a zig-zag of coastal pastures south from Kiama Heights to Werri Beach.
Your occasional partner on this journey is the South Coast railway, appearing and disappearing into tunnels carved more than 120 years ago. It is here, amongst the exposed clifftops, rainforest remnants and endless ocean views, that the weather can play a factor – so be prepared for all possibilities. There are notable number of hills and climbs in this section of the walk. Comfortable walking shoes, drinking water, a raincoat, hat and sunglasses are required.
Gerringong Golf Club | 1pm – 4pm
Situated between the beautiful seaside towns of Gerringong and Gerroa, Gerringong Golf Club offers a friendly golfing atmosphere overlooking the beautiful Walkers Beach. We invite you to play one of the South Coast’s best golf courses, that you will remember for years to come.
The Gerringong Golf Club experience will include club hire, cart hire and 9 holes of golf at one of the most spectacular courses on the Australian coastline.
Beyond the Blowhole South Coast Scenic Tour
1pm – 4pm
Allow South Coast Journeys expert driver and guide to take the group beyond Kiama, to explore some local hidden gems. On departure from Kiama we will head to Fitzroy Falls, via the Kangaroo Valley.
There’s something quite magical about Kangaroo Valley – the road meanders through a patchwork of farmland, Australia’s last surviving wooden suspension bridge and rainforest spilling down the escarpment. Fitzroy Falls offers a spectacular national park experience.
Take a short walk along the elevated board walk, from Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre, to the magnificent Fitzroy Falls, where water plunges over 80m to the valley below. In addition to magnificent waterfalls, it is a great place to experience a lyrebird singing and take in vistas of the rainforest gullies of Morton National Park, from the lookout. On the return to Kiama, you will have 30 minutes to explore the quaint township of Kangaroo Valley.
Grab a coffee? Buy some local cheese or fudge? Or grab a cheeky pint at The Friendly Inn? The choice is yours! On return to Kiama we can do a circuit to the Kiama Blow Hole and Light House, before returning to The Pavilion Kiama.
Go Kiama Experience is proudly supported by Destination NSW & the NSW Government.
